One of the most anticipated restaurant openings of the year is just around the corner: The wizard-themed bar and restaurant The Splintered Wand will crack open their doors to the public for the first time on Nov. 2.
The Splintered Wand has been in the works for about three years, a process that was delayed by the pandemic. Owners Geoffrey Thaddeus Constantine Balch and Andrea Ravnholm have completely reimagined the interior of the historic Flatiron Building at 5135 Ballard Ave. It’s now full of fantastical elements including a large skeleton hanging from the ceiling, which according to the owners once belonged to the mythical Ballard Sea Monster.
We’ve been reporting on the impending opening since 2018 when mysterious signs began appearing in the windows of the narrow Flatiron building. The owners have been busy perfecting the new space, which is three stories: Along with the pub on the first floor, The Splintered Wand will also feature a wand shop on the second floor called Piscataqua & Balch, where the wandmakers will create custom wood wands based on each customer’s astrological chart. The shop’s website further details the history and theory behind the wands.
The third floor, called the Euphorium, is a multipurpose space that will be available to rent for private events and may also be where Andrea teaches a spells and charms class.
“Good people of Seattle, and further afield, it is with great pleasure that we announce the opening day of The Splintered Wand on 2 November 2021,” the owners shared on Facebook last week. “The reservation portal will be opening on 25 October 2021. We look forward to greeting you!!”
