Former Peddler Brewing Co. employee creates a Beers of Ballard board game

There’s a new board game coming out featuring the many breweries of Ballard.

Ballardite Stefan Hock, a former Peddler Brewing Co. employee, tells My Ballard he was “inspired by the Ballard beer community and wanted to make a game for them.” He worked with a local artist to “capture the essence of Ballard into a little box,” saying there are references to several parts of Ballard such as the farmers market, Syttende Mai, and a few iconic Ballard landmarks.

The game’s premise is a “light-hearted brewery hopping” board game. Players are tasked with trying as many Ballard beers as possible over the course of the game. Throughout the game, Hock said, there are different events such as Reuben’s Baby Goats and Brews, Peddler’s Keep the Pint Night, and Seattle Beer Week.

Hock said that as you collect more beer, your player’s “buzz level” goes up, and you’ll need to visit a food truck in the game to sober up.

Right now, Hock has a few prototypes that he’s been taking to breweries around the neighborhood to get the word out. He also launched a Kickstarter campaign to help him with production and artwork. He hit his $6,800 goal over the weekend: “I’m super excited to get the game into people’s hands,” Hock said.

Hock will be tabling at the breweries around Ballard and will have the current prototype copies to play at each location.

Here’s his schedule for the next couple of weeks:
