The City of Seattle has just recognized local soccer team Ballard FC in a big way: It has named August 14, 2023 “Ballard FC Day” in celebration of their recent national title.
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell and Councilmember Dan Strauss signed the proclamation on Monday at Seattle City Hall.
The homegrown soccer team beat Lionsbridge Football Club 2-1 on August 5 in a last-minute goal in front of a sold-out crowd at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.
Ballard FC now qualifies for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup next year, where they’ll get a chance to compete against the best teams in North America.
Along with their impressive finish, Ballard FC also won the Northwest Division title, going 10-1-1.
