Local artists create new colorful murals in downtown Ballard

There are two new massive murals in Ballard.

The Ballard Alliance commissioned artist Morgan Zion for the “Velkommen Ballard” mural which is between Ocho and Hazelwood on the 2300 block of NW Market St. The Ballard Alliance connected with Novo Painting and the property owners to facilitate the new public art.

Stevie Shao, Glynn Rosenberg, and a number of other local artists worked on the other mural which is on the side of the old Magnum Storage building (below). The other artists that contributed include: They Drift, KSRA, 179, Fone Sex, BLINK, 1UC, Nayser UBK, Maestro MRSA, Ruby, Loathe MRSA, Glynn Rosenberg, Mosef, Elohs, Liver, Chief, Yeti, and others.

The Ballard Alliance formed the Ballard Alliance Public Art Committee (BAPAC) in 2018 to incorporate more art throughout the neighborhood. Other commissioned pieces include the utility box beautification project and the former Ballard Blossom building murals.
