Cycle Dogs closing permanently after two years in Ballard

The vegan hot dog restaurant Cycle Dogs is closing up shop at the end of October.

Cycle Dogs (5410 17th Ave NW) started as a food truck in 2015 and then opened in the former No Bones Beach Club location in May 2019. After a challenging first year, owner Keaton Tucker, appealed to his community in December 2022 to help cover some financial setbacks that added up to over $140,000.

Now, Tucker has announced he has to close Cycle Dogs permanently. He shared the news in an Instagram video to followers.

“I wanted to apologize because when we’ve asked for help, you’ve helped,” Tucker said in the emotional goodbye. “You’ve bailed us out, you’ve backed our Kickstarters. And I came up short.”

Tucker shared that he had a business partner back out recently, and he said he can’t go on. After working nonstop for the past several months, he said it’s time to call it quits.

“I did everything I could,” he said. “I just wanted people to know I tried.”

Cycle Dogs will serve its last meal on Oct. 31, and is currently for sale.
