Seattle Police investigate multiple armed robberies targeting Ballard students

Police are investigating following a string of armed robberies targeting students from Ballard High School and Whitman Middle School.

Seattle Police say they have linked four reported incidents since September. Police say they believe there are four to six subjects in their teens, but their ages haven’t yet been confirmed. They were driving a red Kia, gray Hyundai, and/or a red/silver sedan.

The victims described the suspects as involving three to six Black males wearing ski masks or hoodies, but police also received reports of an Asian male and Black female may have also been involved.

Some of the teenage victims told police that the suspects had a firearm while forcing them to hand over cell phones and other personal belongings.

Police say the red Kia has been recovered, but they are still searching for the gray Hyundai and red/silver sedan.

SPD says the mobile precinct and other police officers will increase their presence in the area to assist in deterring criminal activity.

“These crimes against our youth in our communities are a high priority for the department. We do ask that you keep your safety a number one priority and be vigilant in identifying a potentially dangerous situation,” SPD writes on the Blotter.
