The organizers behind the Syttende Mai (17th of May) parade in Ballard are looking for help designing the official pin for the event.
The 17th of May Seattle Committee says submissions should be original designs in the shape of shield that showcase a Norwegian flag and should revolve around Norway’s culture and heritage. It’s the 50th anniversary of the Ballard parade, so they’d like to see that tied into the design as well.
The winning pin design will become the official 2024 pin of the event and will be for sale through community partners including the National Nordic Museum, Scandinavian Specialties, Larsen’s Bakery, Bartell Drugs (Greenwood), and multiple Sons of Norway and Daughters of Norway Lodges.
The winner will receive five pins, a family year-long membership to the National Nordic Museum, and artist recognition through different media channels.
The committee is accepting design applications until Dec. 15; you can apply online.
