Korean restaurant Wero to close at the end of December

The Korean restaurant Wero (5210 Ballard Ave) on Ballard Ave has announced it will be closing its doors permanently at the end of the year.

Owner Wes Yoo opened Wero in March 2022, morphing The Gerald into a Korean restaurant after experimenting with the concept as a pop-up takeout business.

Yoo took over The Gerald in January 2018 and slowly changed the menu over to Korean food, eventually rebranding into Wero. He also opened Bapshim earlier this year, a lunch take-out spot located in the back of Wero.

Yoo announced the closure on social media, saying Wero’s last day of operation will be December 30.

“I hope you’ll come visit us one last time for an evening of food, drinks, and fun,” Yoo said. “No words to really describe all of the emotions so I will keep it short. Thank you. See you again soon.”
