Seattle Parks and Recreation has selected a new concessionaire for the Golden Gardens Bathhouse: The Kite Cafe is taking over the stand in May.
Miri’s at Golden Gardens closed in December 2022, after a five-year run on the beach. Seattle Parks had been seeking a new long-term tenant for the space and selected The Kite Cafe following a request for proposal process that ended in October.
Seattle Parks said they selected a concessionaire “who best demonstrated the ability to provide innovative, affordable, healthy, safe, and reliable food service to park patrons while paying reasonable concession fees to SPR.”
Ballardites Tony Meyer and Matt Kelly own The Kite Cafe, which will serve east-coast style sandwiches, salads, drinks, and snacks. According to Seattle Parks, Meyer and Kelly aim to “bring nourishing community-driven food experiences to Seattle parks, starting with Golden Gardens.”
The Kite Cafe is expected to open in May.
