After 20 years in Ballard, Cupcake Royale plans to close up its location at 2052 NW Market St.
Owner Jody Hall shared the news with customers on Friday, saying that while Ballard wasn’t her first location, it was “the one that put us on the map, and literally helped birth the cupcake revolution across the US.” Their last day open is scheduled for Sunday, March 17.
“Ballard has been our HQ – our bakery, our cafe and our team’s office since 2004, and it’s time to move on,” Hall wrote in her message.
“Thank you for being a part of our story and success in Ballard. We’re also grateful for our genius team over the years – bakers, frosters, baristas, sprinkle bitches, dishwashers and delivery drivers who have been foundational to our success. We built this together. We shared random acts of cupcakes. We sparked joy.”
Hall says they won’t be closing the business altogether; she said that they’ll “revamp the business and adapt for the next 20 years.”
They’re also opening a pop-up in Capitol Hill in the near future.
As a farewell to Ballard, they’ll have deals on cupcakes and mementos. If you order a dozen cupcakes for delivery to any of their five locations for pick up before or on March 17, they’ll gift a free ice cream pint. If you pre-order to Ballard, they’ll include a free diner mug as a memento while supplies last.
