There’s a rather unusual listing on Zillow right now: The Crown Hill Cemetery is on the market for $1,495,000.
The cemetery, located at 8712 12th Avenue NW, is 10 acres and spans almost an entire block.
Here are details from the Zillow ad:
“The Crown Hill Cemetery, nearly an entire city block, has been ordered by the courts to sell. This nearly 10 acre parcel has room to increase revenue by adding Mausoleum and/or Columbarium buildings or structures on the vacant lots in the SW corner of the cemetery or by adding them into under-utilized roads throughout the cemetery grounds. This could be an opportunity for a Cemetery Company or a Funeral Home business looking to expand.”
The Crown Hill Cemetery is a privately owned and non-denominational cemetery, founded in 1903. It has individual and companion urn gardens for cremation burial and “cremation niches” in an above-ground columbarium. Their website says they are one of the only cemeteries to still allow upright monuments.
Thanks Alyssa for the tip!
