Tactics skate and snowboard shop opens on Ballard Ave in former Ascent Outdoors location

A new skate and snowboard shop has come to Ballard: Tactics Boardshop is now open at 5209 Ballard Ave.

Tactics started up in Eugene, Oregon 25 years ago—the Ballard shop is their fourth retail store overall, but their first in Washington.

Tactics took over the space vacated by Ascent Outdoors, which moved to Interbay after 22 years in Ballard.

“At Tactics, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to stand sideways on a board,” they write on their website.

“In 1999, a group of twenty somethings had an idea. While many scoffed at the notion of selling snowboards and skateboards online, a fearless few abandoned promising professional careers and found a way to get the wheels turning” Tactics says on their site.

“Over twenty years later, we have built an incredible company and our mission remains the same: to serve our community through the best products, knowledge and service in skateboarding and snowboarding.”
