Another rate increase for on-street parking in Ballard

Parking rates for Ballard streets increased this week for the second time this year.

The Seattle Department of Transportation raised rates by 50 cents per hour in some places, including in Ballard’s “core” and “edge” areas. The map below shows rates for evening parking; “edge” is indicated in orange and “core” is red. Blue is the Ballard Locks.

The rates for parking in the afternoon (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.) increased by 50 cents in the Ballard “edge” area to $4 per hour. The Ballard “core” evening (5 p.m. – 8 p.m.) rates also increased by 50 cents per hour to $5.50 to match the afternoon rates which SDOT increased in March.

SDOT usually adjusts rates three times per year based on demand. In this rate change, SDOT increased rates in 19 areas, which includes Ballard, Capitol Hill, First Hill, Columbia City, and Green Lake. Four areas saw rates drop.
