The Sustainable Ballard Festival is returning to the neighborhood next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Loyal Heights Community Center lawn (2101 NW 77th St).
The Sustainable Ballard Festival, organized by local nonprofit Sustainable Ballard, is a one-day event that brings local organizations and community members together to celebrate eco-friendly practices and products. They’ll have workshops, games, DIY project ideas, and free samples from companies that focus on sustainability.
“Eclectic, artsy, earthy and committed to a better future… that’s Sustainable Ballard and the Annual Sustainable Ballard Festival!” the event info reads. The festival is about “creativity, passion and community-building while learning about daily practices to decrease our reliance on plastic to increase our health and the health of our planet.”
The free, family-friendly festival will include live music from Brother Elmore and others with refreshments and food from local food trucks Kathmandu MoMoCha, BlackStar Kebabs, & Copa De Oro Fruits.
“We’ll have lots of new activities plus some old favorites. Attend workshops, play games and quizzes for prizes, try some DIY projects like making a candle holder with Ballard Tool Library, participate in the Games & Puzzle swap, enjoy some free samples and learn new ways to lower your plastic consumption!” Sustainable Ballard writes.
