Assembly Coffee to reopen under new ownership

Assembly Coffee (5507 17th Ave NW) is reopening under new ownership.

Molly Hawkins opened Assembly in 2022 but shuttered it in September 2024 with the hope of finding someone to take it over.

And now it’s becoming a reality: A Ballard couple, Caroline Devine and Daniel Perez, will be taking over Assembly, Hawkins told My Ballard. They’re former customers, Hawkins said.

“They are going to be doubling down on the start that I barely got going over there at Assembly, taking it to the next level and weaving in even more than I was able to achieve and I couldn’t be more excited,” she said.

Hawkins said she’ll be consulting with the couple through the transition.

No word yet on when Assembly will reopen, but we’ll keep you posted.
