Wild Mountain Cafe launches fundraiser after burglars steal $5k

Crown Hill’s Wild Mountain Cafe is appealing to its community for help after losing $5,000 in a burglary this week.

Two suspects broke into Wild Mountain Cafe (1408 NW 85th Street) at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. According to the cafe’s GoFundMe fundraiser, the thieves took about $5,000 which included tip money.

“Our team works tirelessly to create a welcoming space and delicious food for our community. This setback is not only a financial blow but also an emotional one for everyone who puts their heart into this place,” said Meghan McTaggart, who organized the fundraiser.

Co-owner Kevin Aylesworth and his wife got an alert from their security cameras when the break-in started. They called police who arrived after the thieves left the property.

The GoFundMe goal is $5,000. As of midday on Friday, Nov 15, the campaign had raised $695.

“We’re reaching out to our friends, family, and community for support. “Any donation, big or small, will go directly toward helping the restaurant cover its losses, supporting our staff through this difficult time, and helping us get back on our feet to serve you again,” McTaggart wrote.
