The saga of the Ballard Blossom redevelopment (1740 NW Market St) continues, with the latest plans for an apartment building now taking shape.
The development site includes several buildings along NW Market St between 20th Ave NW and 17th Ave NW (see below), including where Sip & Ship and Cookie’s Country Chicken operate. The now-vacant FedEx building is also in the demolition plans.
Ballard Blossom moved to 1111 NW 85th St. in 2019 to make way for what was then plans for a 7-story hotel. Not long after they moved, a new plan emerged for what was called the Ballard Hub—a set of two back-to-back apartments. But the property changed hands when it sold in 2022 for $8.3 million.
Now, an 8-story, 250-unit apartment building with parking for 150 vehicles is in the works.
Holland Partner Group filed the land-use application for the new apartment plan with Ankrom Moisan as its architect, the Seattle DJC reports. The project is nearing its first design review—we’ll update when we have access to more design plans.
