The Stepping Stone to close after 17 years in Ballard

The local bar The Stepping Stone is closing after 17 years at 5903 24th Ave NW.

The Stepping Stone was served a notice to vacate earlier this month. Owner Liz Nielsen told My Ballard that they have no plans to move yet because the news “came up so fast and during the holidays.” Their last day open will be January 15—she says they have to be out by January 22.

The Stepping Stone opened in 2008. Nielsen purchased the bar in 2013 and has been running it ever since.

The owner of the building is Eastlake Hill Properties LLC, who acquired the building earlier this year.

No news yet on the plans for the building, but we’ll update as we learn more.
