A new sushi restaurant has opened at 6201 15th Ave NW.
Migaku has taken over Watson’s Counter original location—Watson’s moved to 24th Ave NW in 2023, but just closed permanently in December.
The owners of Belltown’s Karaage Setsuna are behind the new restaurant. Chefs Migaku Inaba and Toshikazu Sakuma will be heading up the kitchen. Their website says they hope to be a “cultural bridge” for people to learn about Japanese culinary traditions, and they’ll focus on sushi kaiseki cuisine.
Kaiseki refers to Japanese-style multi-course dining. Migaku has several curated menus, including the seven-course “seasonal kaiseki course” which has an appetizer, sashimi, sushi, soup, grilled fish, and dessert. They also have the “Migaku kaiseki course” and “chef’s special kaiseki course” which are both nine courses.
Migaku also serves a la carte sushi, sashimi, and main protein dishes such as wagyu beef and grilled fish.
Migaku is open every day except Tuesday with two seatings—either 5 p.m, to 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
