The neighborhood favorite Take 5 Urban Market (6757 8th Ave NW) is reopening its doors today, almost one year after a natural gas explosion caused significant damage to the cafe and deli.
In May 2024, a natural gas explosion and fire forced Take 5 to shut its doors. No one was hurt in the blast, but the storefront was destroyed. A group of loyal customers started a fundraiser after the incident, raising nearly $50,000 to help them rebuild.
“Thank you to our incredible community who has offered endless support during this time, we cannot wait to reopen and see all your smiling faces again starting April 9th 2025,” the owners wrote on their website.
Take 5 is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
