Update: The owners of Mainstay are Thom Koschwanez and Ashley Thompson, a Crown Hill couple who both hail from Seattle. Thom has a culinary background — he’s worked in Ethan Stowell restaurants for seven years. Ashley grew up in Ballard and attended Ballard High School.
Thom says that the cafe will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, either to eat in-house or to-go. They say the specialty market will sell seasonal house-made and retail items, with a highlight on local produce.
Original: An all-day cafe and specialty market known as Mainstay Provisions have plans to take over the former Sneakery location on NW 65th St.
The Sneakery closed earlier this year, after operating at 612 NW 65th St for 13 years.
Lauri Miller posted several photos in the My Ballard Group earlier this week, one of which is an application for a beer and wine license for the cafe.
Heliotrope Architects will be designing the new cafe, and posted a mock-up on Instagram.
The details of the cafe are still a little fuzzy, but their sign says they plan to open this year. We’ve reached out to the owners and will update when we have more info.
Cool, looks good!
Nice! Much excite, very wow! Will definitely check it out!
