Mead makers from around the state will gather at Skål Beer Hall next week for the first ever Washington Mead Fest.
“We’re all about firsts, and we could not be more excited about this one,” Skål writes. The beer hall will join forces with the Washington Mead Alliance for the festival on August 8th, which will feature mead-makers from all over the state, including Bellingham, Wenatchee, Tacoma, Everett, and as far east as Green Bluff.
Mead, a fermented honey alcoholic beverage, is believed to be the oldest alcoholic libation in the world.
From Skål:
In Norse mythology, the Mead of Poetry was crafted from the blood of the wise being Kvasir and turned the drinker into a poet or scholar. While we can’t guarantee that it will have the same effect on our beer hall patrons, we can promise a fun celebration where you will have the opportunity to try a wide array of stunning local meads, while mingling with the talented producers behind these creations.
Skål will be giving two mead sample tickets to those who buy a full-size glass of mead at the bar — mug club members get an additional two tickets for free.
Here are the participating mead-makers:
- Kvlt Mead of Tacoma
- McGregor Bee’s and Honey of Wenatchee
- Æsir Meadery of Everett
- Outlanders Keep, LLC of Lakewood
- Mr. B’s Mead of Seattle
- Artivem Mead Co of Bellingham
- Garden Path Fermentation of Burlington
- Sky River Mead & Wine of Redmond
- Ethereal Meads LLC of Battle Ground
- BeeHaven Beverage LLC of Tukwila
- Melchemy Mead of Carson
- Author Mead Co. of Vancouver
- Seattle Mead Co of Seattle

You managed to check off the douchy internet troll comment checkbox with that comment.
awesome bro! i know, right?
What a great idea. I love mead and am thankful to have the chance to sample and compare so many local offerings.
Nice! There are a lot of beer fest, great to see a mead fest.
As a sober guy, I’d like to see and go to a Kombucha fest. No beards required!
I’m not a Kombucha drinker but I think that’s an excellent idea. You should talk to whomever sells the stuff, I have no idea but there must be a juice bar type place, and suggest it.
These events are great for people who enjoy the product and excellent for local businesses that make or sell it. It’s a win/win/win endeavor.
Will the dude bro,s have there dogs there ? Ha ha…….
Clipper – “bro,s have there dogs there ? ” are you drunk again?
