A My Ballard reader posted a warning in the forum about a robbery involving his 83-year-old mother and a man posing as a Seattle P-I newspaper carrier. “My mom said he was so kind and personable, asking questions about her cat and if she had any special delivery instructions,” Steve explains. “He then asked her for a glass of water. By the time she returned, he had stolen $130 cash from her purse and was driving away in his car.” Fortunately, she was not injured. The Seattle P-I followed up on Steve’s forum post and explains that Seattle Times newspaper carriers — who handle delivery for the P-I — have no reason to ask for access into someone’s home. “Please spread the word to all you know to watch out for this scam,” Steve writes.
