The Jimmy John’s on the corner of 15th and Market has closed abruptly.
The news first appeared in the My Ballard Group — Mark posted that the sandwich shop appeared to be permanently closed.
Jimmy John’s opened in the same building as the Urbana apartments several years ago, just next door to Five Guys and Bartell Drugs.
We’ve attempted to reach the franchise owners to learn about the closure, and will update with any new details.

Nice! Crappy chain sandwiches run by a crappy corporation that engaged in wage theft.
Maybe they had to close a bunch of stores to justify the cost of paying Lil Jon to advertise their new Little John sandwich?
Probably due to the fact they got bought out last week.

A simple internet search of Jimmy Johns shows that it was sold a month ago to the conglomerate (Inspire Brands) that owns Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings and Sonic Drive-In.
And to make your head spin further: in 2016, a majority stake of JJ (65%) was sold to the Roark Capital Group. Roark was the one that recently sold JJ to Inspire, yet Roark also owns Inspire.
An MBAs wet dream.

Sure have to sell a lot of expensive sandwiches etc to pay the rent. That, along with the ever ending crap foisted upon a business. Most here don’t and will never run a thing, and vote for others who’ve only run a campaign, and their mouths. No secret Seattle is NOT business friendly. The one’s remaining must charge confiscatory rates to remain solvent while conforming and bending over backwards to comply.
There are plenty of national chains within a few blocks that have survived for decades.
Maybe your outlook on the state of Seattle is flawed?
There used to be a Quizno’s where Ausum Vapor (until recently) sat. Not every chain can survive here, just like not every small business can. Mae Ploy Thai, same building as Ausum, has been thriving for years. Ausum shut down recently thanks to Jay Inslee’s flavored vaping ban.
What are you even talking about? A random sandwich chain closes and that’s the end of the world?
