There are plans in the works to improve the busy Route 44 corridor connecting Ballard and the University District, and there will be a public meeting this weekend to learn more about the proposed changes.
Seattle Department of Transportation has partnered with King County Metro to host several upcoming drop-in sessions, one of which is in Ballard this Wednesday, November 20th at the Leif Erikson Hall (2245 NW 57th St), from 6pm to 7:30pm.
The improvements could include dedicated bus lanes and queue jumps at traffic lights to speed up travel, signal upgrades to activate green lights to reduce waiting times, and changes to roadway channelization to improve safety.
Route 44 was designated a priority bus corridor in the 2012 Seattle Transit Master Plan — to learn more about the timeline and project details, click here.
