The BHS production of Xanadu has been postponed to early May, following Seattle Public Schools’ announcement that large gatherings are to be cancelled to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Seattle Schools will remain open despite the cancellations, but SPS says they’re in daily contact with public health officials as they work to respond to coronavirus in the community.
“In addition to Public Health’s recommendation to stay open, we are evaluating several factors. Public schools are the access point to critical social services. Closing schools is a last resort and will be done with great care, transparency, and in partnership with Public Health,” SPS wrote on Twitter last week.
Pre-purchased tickets for Xanadu will be honored for the new dates. Tickets for opening night, March 19, will transfer to opening night on May 7. These are the dates for the March-to-May exchange:
- March 19 > May 7
- March 20 > May 8
- March 21 > May 9
- March 26 > May 14
- March 27 > May 15
- March 27 > May 15
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. Advance tickets are available online (search for “Xanadu”).
Let’s just cancel everything. Everyone stay inside until 2022.
Wall off Magnolia

This play is too gay for a high school production. Have you seen the film? It’s got Gene Kelly in it, for God’s sake! #OMGtoogay
