Farmer’s pop-up to offer farmers market produce in Ballard

An urban farm in Ballard is selling produce from multiple farms who usually sell at the Sunday farmers market on a pop-up basis.

For the next three weekends from noon to 6pm, you can pickup produce from Tight 5 Farm’s store, located next to Stoup Brewing (1113 NW 52nd St, A).

“Need fresh produce? We’re offering pickup for items from several farms; including meat, potatoes, mushrooms, and eggs (and of course our micros),” Tight 5 says in their Facebook event info.

To order produce, you can go online to Tight 5 Farm’s website, which will be updated weekly. When you drive up, just tell them your name and they’ll fetch your oder. Otherwise, you can choose from a list of options that will be displayed outside their shop.

“Both the survival of our farm and other local farmers really depend on consumers converting to online ordering during these market closures,” Zaq Wiedmann tells My Ballard.

They plan to have their stand outside with a minimal display to show shoppers what’s on hand. “We’ll also be implementing some new strategies to help with social distancing. With the COVID-19 outbreak we want to make sure you can get your produce safely and still be able to support your local farms.”

Some of the social distancing measures include a chip reader at the front of the line with hand sanitizer to use afterwards. They prefer cards over cash to minimize contact.

They’ll place all purchased items in a bus tub which will be sanitized between every order. All contact surfaces will also be sanitized throughout their pop-up hours.
