8-story apartment building proposed for NW 56th St

Plans are still in the works to build an 8-story apartment complex just west of 24th Ave NW on NW 56th St.

The proposal first emerged a few years back, initially as a condo building. The current development plan would demolish the houses at 2432 and 2436 NW 56th St to make way for a 55-unit apartment building with parking for 43 vehicles.

The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections has approved the plan with conditions; public comments may be emailed to PRC@seattle.gov or mailed to Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections, 700 5th Ave Ste 2000, PO Box 34019, Seattle, WA 98124-4019. All comments must be submitted by May 26.

The designers are David Vandervort Architects—we’ve reached out to the firm for sketches of the proposed complex and will update when we learn more.

    I was at the public meeting back a couple years ago. The owners genuinely seemed interested in providing a space that was beneficial to the community – and they were so proud of their work they are showing flags on top of the building! It’s a bit of a quirky design with the wooden weave, but that block is primarily apartment buildings and I think this fits in well with the context of the block.

    1. I agree with you Car Song. I made a point of walking by there yesterday and it’s very in keeping with the area. It appears that it will be one story higher than Ballard House.

  4. We created a similar project presentation and I can say that it was extremely difficult. I couldn’t have done it myself, moreover, there was so much to consider. Because then I was told where to go for help so that they could make my presentation as effective as possible. This is important in the final evaluation. That’s why I hope I was able to help and give them a hint just like slidepeak.com/ppt-slide-design . They helped me to make a great design for ppt, I gave my presentation and got the highest score. Therefore, it is certainly worth it.
