Officials in Seattle are bringing pop-up COVID-19 vaccinations to the neighborhoods of Ballard, Fremont, and West Seattle.
The pop-up clinics make it more accessible for those who have not been able to receive the vaccine. They will be open and available on Thursday, May 13 and Saturday, May 15 at three locations around Seattle.
As an added incentive, the City is partnering with local businesses to offer free coffee and ice cream to the first 50 people to get their vaccines.
Seattle Fire Department Mobile Vaccination Teams are being hosted by the Ballard Alliance, Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and the West Seattle Junction Association. The City’s Office of Economic Development (OED) is partnering with local businesses Salt & Straw, Fremont Coffee Company, and Husky Deli for this round of vaccine pop-ups.
“Over 73 percent of eligible Seattleites have begun the vaccination process. This is an incredible achievement, and it speaks to our communities’ commitment to protecting the health and safety of our entire city,” Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a statement.
The Ballard location will be open on Thursday, May 13 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Marvin’s Garden (5400 Ballard Ave NW). The Fremont location will also be open on Thursday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m at 462 N 36th St (U-Park parking lot next to Roxys Diner). “The Ballard Alliance looks forward to partnering with the Seattle Fire Department, Mayor Durkan and Councilmember (Dan) Strauss to bring the mobile vaccination team to Ballard this Thursday,” Ballard Alliance Executive Director Mike Stewart said in a statement. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Alliance has collaborated with the City to help Ballard business owners and residents through multiple challenges. We are appreciative of this opportunity to continue to work together and provide the Ballard community easy access to vaccination.”
The vaccination pop-ups will have the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines available. They are also offering second doses for those who are in need of completing their second vaccine with proof of their vaccination card. If patients choose the Moderna vaccine their second dose will be at either the established Rainier Beach Community Vaccination Hub (8702 Seward Park Ave S) or the West Seattle Community Vaccination Hub (2801 SW Thistle St).
Each pop-up will be giving out an item of appreciation to those who receive it at their location: The Fremont Coffee Company is treating the first 50 customers with a free coffee, and Salt & Straw is also treating their first 50 customers with a free ice cream at the Ballard location on Thursday. The Husky Deli will be giving out free ice cream to their first 50 customers who receive their vaccination at the West Seattle location on Saturday.
