The Starbucks on the corner of NW Market St and 22nd Ave NW has closed its doors temporarily.
Starbucks says the closure is to make some changes to the cafe; a sign on the door states that the store is “temporarily closed for updates”.
In a statement, Starbucks says they are making updates “that better reflect a warm and welcoming environment, and a store that reflects the needs of the community we serve. While we don’t yet have a reopening day, all partners (employees) working in the store had the opportunity to transfer to a neighboring store of their choice during this process,” Starbucks said in a statement to KOMO.
The KOMO report alluded to security concerns at the Ballard store; some are speculating that the store closed due to those concerns.
There’s been a recent uptick in break-ins at local businesses in the direct vicinity of the downtown Starbucks; several businesses have reported theft in recent weeks.
We have an email out to Starbucks and will update this story if we learn more about the closure.
