After a week of reduced bus service and canceled solid waste collection due to the snow and ice, things are creeping back to normal today.
King County Metro deactivated the Emergency Snow Network early Sunday morning after a week of reduced service. Most Metro bus routes will be back in service where road conditions allow, but there could still be some routes affected.
Metro says that vehicle maintenance crews have shifted away from chaining and retrieving stuck buses and have started repairs to damaged buses that operated during the storm. They are assessing the number of available buses and whether any routes may need to remain temporarily suspended as repairs are carried out.
You can check out service advisories on Metro’s website for an updated list of reduced services.
Solid waste collections are finally back on track today after a week of canceled service. Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) says customers who were skipped last week may set out double their normal amount of garbage, recycling, and compost on their collection day for no additional cost.
SPU says that includes recycling collection, even if it’s not a customer’s typical week for collection. The contractors will attempt to collect off-week recycling if possible, but may not be able to collect all. If that’s the case, customers can set out double the normal amount on their next recycling collection day.
All transfer stations and the hazardous waste facility are open with normal hours.
