The City has conditionally approved the 6-story apartment building planned for the northwest corner of 9th Ave NW and NW Market St.
The project at 904 NW Market St will include 161 units with retail and parking for 60 vehicles. The apartment complex will span over half a block, replacing several small homes along NW Market St.
The architect is Public 47 Architects, and the developer is FA Johnson.
The City’s conditional approval hinges on a few items, including the specifics around ground-level design: “…the storefront glazing at the residential entry and Douglas Fir court is to remain transparent and free of films, signage, or other obstructions, to maintain the visual connection from the street through the interior space, and out to the north courtyard in the construction plan set,” the SDCI planner wrote in the decision.
(See the full conditional approval here.)
The new apartment will be built just across the street from a 5-story, 229-unit apartment building at 907 NW Market St and a new Ballard Aegis Senior Living center.
Down the street, a 7-story apartment building is set to replace the Firestone at 1145 NW Market St. The plans include 122 units with ground-level retail. Parking for 70 vehicles is proposed. Just west of 904 NW Market St is the future site of yet another 5-story apartment complex at the current KFC location. The plans include 86 small efficiency dwelling units with no parking proposed.
