This weekend there will be a celebration of Norwegian Heritage Day with the annual Leif to Leif 5k in Ballard.
The Leif Erikson Lodge (2245 NW 57th St) will host the Norwegian Heritage Day event on March 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be live Nordic music, traditional Scandinavian food, performances, and crafts from local makers.
The Leif to Leif 5k starts at 9 a.m. in front of the lodge, and registration starts at 8 a.m. (or sign up online) The route goes from the lodge to the Leif Erikson Statue at Shilshole Bay Marina and back.
The 5k costs $20 to enter and participants can stay for the festivities at the lodge afterward. “We will be serving hot food, Scandinavian baked items (cookies, lefse, bløtkake, krumkake), coffee, soda, and more,” the organizers say.
