Tom Bailiff, owner of Ristorante Picolinos, passed away last Sunday at the age of 61.
Bailiff opened the Italian restaurant Picolinos in the autumn of 2008. It’s been a staple in the neighborhood ever since.
Before he opened Picolinos, Bailiff worked as a CPA for two decades. He originally dreamed of opening a hotel but set his sights on creating Picolinos instead.
Picolinos is set inside a 100-year-old building in Sunset Hill, which he bought to build out the restaurant. He wanted it to look like an Italian country villa.
Condolence cards can be sent to the restaurant for the family and employees (6415 32nd Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107).
Bailiff’s business partner Manuel Tapiaservin tells My Ballard he plans to take over Bailiff’s responsibilities and will keep the restaurant open.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, May, 22 at Picolinos at 6 p.m.
