Police arrest a fugitive and recover a firearm in Ballard

Seattle police officers arrested a man for a fugitive warrant and recovered an illegal firearm last week at an encampment in Ballard.

According to the SPD Blotter, police responded to a 911 call reporting that a man was abducted at gunpoint in the 1700 block of NW 56th St. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim was taken to an encampment along the Burke Gilman Trail.

Patrol officers and Community Response Group members identified the suspect and confirmed he was also wanted for an outstanding felony warrant. Officers found the suspect’s tent at the encampment and contacted the suspect, who fled.

After a short pursuit on foot, officers took him into custody and served a warrant on the tent, where they located a handgun. Police say the alleged kidnapping victim was located uninjured, and the suspect was taken into custody.
