Ballard Corners Park rededication to honor Jeanne Kohl-Welles plus a parade—with dogs

On Saturday, Aug. 19, there will be a rededication ceremony at Ballard Corners Park honoring King County Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles’ career.

Groundswell NW and Friends of Ballard Corners Park (1702 NW 62nd St) are organizing the event, which will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Along with celebrating a set of new interpretive panels that Kohl-Welles helped secure funding for, the event will honor her 30-year career—she’s retiring at the end of 2023.

There will be a family parade at 1:30 p.m., brief remarks at 2 p.m., and a pup parade at 2:30 p.m.
