There’s a new daycare opening in Ballard: Inicio Playschool opens in January at 1116 NW 54th St.
Inicio Playschool will be an all-day preschool and childcare center. They say their curriculum is play-based and focuses on “social-emotional development, character building, creating inclusive, diverse, loving and caring learning environments that instill a sense of security and trust in children.”
The preschool is opening in the former Zoom Language Center, which closed during the pandemic.
Inicio is open to kids from 3 months to 6 years old. They say they’ll focus on “imaginary play, sensory exploration, building and architecture, letter and number mastery, early reading and writing skills, creative expressions through art and crafts, scientific experiments and fine and gross motor skill development activities.”
Inicio says outdoor play is an integral part of their program, with at least two hours of outside time at the neighboring Gilman Playground, regardless of the weather.
Once open, Inicio’s hours will be 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
