Loyal Heights Elementary (2511 NW 80th St) will be transformed into an art gallery on Thursday evening for the Loyal Heights Elementary Annual Art Walk.
A Loyal Heights student works on a piece of the Artist-in_Residence project.
From 6:30 to 8 p.m., the hallways and lunchroom will have art work on display from each classroom, Mary Beth Lambert with the LHPTA tells us, and the Ballard High School Chamber Orchestra will be providing the music.
A piece of the Artist-in_Residence project before it’s assembled. The art is created from mythical creatures found in Norse tales.
The Loyal Heights Art Program combines the Art Docent Program and the Artist-in-Residence Program (AIR), an in-depth art project for the school year. The theme for this year’s AIR program is “Puppetry on Parade: Nordic Heritage and Culture” and students are creating giant puppets. Lambert tells us that one creature is 30 feet long and another is over 6 feet tall. “Visitors will get a sneak peak of the puppets and troll masks which will make their official debut at the Syttende Mai parade on May 17th,” she says.
These art programs are funded through the PTA and allow students to participate in monthly art lessons and projects.
Hmmmnnn that might explain the 3 huge white globe type things hanging in my neighbors front window…aha!!!!
