Here’s a look at what’s going on around Ballard this weekend:
Ho ho ho! Santa will be in downtown Ballard on Saturday evening as part of the Holidays in Ballard campaign. Starting at 4 p.m., get photos with Santa at the old bell tower (corner of Ballard Ave NW and 22nd Ave NW), take free horse-drawn hay rides down Ballard Ave and enjoy other holiday festivities. On Sunday, Fifty Four Sixteen Artist Collective (5416 Shilshole Ave NW) will be holding an open house and holiday sale. There will be studio tours, glassblowing demonstrations and unique handcrafted holiday gift items for sale. The NW Youth Harp Ensemble will play at the Ballard Library (5614 22nd Ave NW) from 2 to 3 p.m.The Norwegian Ladies Chorus of Seattle will perform holiday favorites on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church (2400 NW 85th St.). A $10 suggested donation at the door. Norwegian dessert and coffee reception to follow.Celebrate Julefest at Ballard First Lutheran Church. Potluck desserts at 6 p.m., music at 7 p.m. and dancing around the Christmas tree at 8 p.m.
Whatever happened to the snow flakes that used to be hung on the streetlights along Market Street? I will they would come back.
I went to four of the businesses listed in the Holidays in Ballard ” campaign” & they didn’t know what the hell I was talking about.
Anyone know what is going on at Walgreen’s at Market and 15th Ave? 1 fire engine, and up to 10 SPD units?? They arrested one person, and are currently searching a red vehicle (Chevy Cavalier I believe).
I wish more arrests were part of the holiday in ballard.
The snowflakes got old and started needing repair or replacement. Then one fell on a car in a windstorm. At that point there was not the money/interest in raising the money to fix them up again, so the snowflakes came to an end. Too bad because I liked them too.
I love holidays in the ‘hood. Window-shopping on Market and Ballard Ave is one of my favorite walks.
Karin, thank you for shopping local!!! The business owners are the ones who signed up and sometimes the word doesn’t trickle down to the employees. It’s all for fun and we hope you will dozens of $25 gift certificated by completing your passport!
We had our photos taken with Santa on Saturday the 3rd and lost the card of the Photographer. Does anyone have the photograppher’s contact information
