Each month the Ballard Rotary honors two students of the month. This month Taylor Stern and Nick Onstad-Hawes were selected.
Athletic superstar, Taylor is varsity cheer captain, gymnastics captain, and has been State Athlete of the Week 3 years in a row. She was the Seattle Times Star of the Week in January, and last year placed 4th in state for gymnastics. Her cheer team also placed 3rd in state this year. Taylor helps out her community often by volunteering. She helps out at college gymnastics meets, is a camp counselor, and volunteers at Relay for Life. Taylor plans on attending a 4-year university next fall, hoping to continue athletics in either cheer or stunt and tumbling.
Excelling both on and off the court, Nick is Ballard’s varsity basketball captain. He stays fit in the spring by playing lacrosse, and last year received the Golden Cup for most hustle. Nick leads Ballard’s team with expertise; they have won the most games this season in Ballard’s history. Nick also coaches elementary and middle school basketball camps, and volunteers at Relay for Life. Next fall Nick plans on attending a 4-year university and major in either statistics or the sciences.
