Just in time for summer (really, summer is coming!), Cheka-Looka Surf Shop closed their Fremont storefront and moved to 6300 Seaview Ave.
They’ve got surf equipment, clothing, skimboards and stand-up paddle board rentals. Jeff, the owner, tells us the paddle boards have been extremely popular. For $20 you can rent one for two hours. Wear some polarized sun glasses and, he says, you can see everything under the water. They’re open 11-8 except on Sundays when they’ll probably close around 6. (Thanks Erin for the tip!)

What your backdoor down there, Jeff. The bushes behind your building are full of criminals when the weather gets warm. This is a favorite camping spot. You have to know where to look, to find them. There are many overgrown footpaths that traverse behind the RR tracks all the way over to the doggie park. I would make sure I had a deluxe alarm system.

Seth's the main dude in there, at least on Saturdays. And yes, they sell cut flowers, too — wholesale prices. Upstairs is an art cooperative, so the whole thing is very cool as long as they can make it work financially.

I've been buying from Jeff and his crew since they were down under I-5 on Eastlake. Shops come and go, but these guys have to be one of the best shops on the West Coast. No doubt.
Sure, you'll find shops in Cali with 200 boards in the quivers – and 200 suits on the rack, but there's plenty of selection at this shop. And, if you're looking for someone to help you understand and source what you want/need – and can give 'em a week for shipping – look no further than Cheka.
Hard to make a go of surf retail in Seattle, but its nice to see them fighting the fight.
It's nice that this store offers surf boards for rentals and sunglasses too. Nowadays, renting stuffs is a practical way to save more money.
