Ballard’s Little Orange Room is all about neighborhood pride. Owner Anne-Lise Hurn, who specializes in hand-made home goods and one-of-a-kind costumes has now launched a new line of neighborhood tees for little munchkins.
Owner Anne-Lise Hurn and her son
The t-shirts are hand-drawn images that represent many of Seattle’s unique neighborhoods and screen-printed in Hurn’s basement. “The idea came when we were trying to decide where to live after graduating from UW. I quickly saw how proud each neighborhood was of their tiny pocket of Seattle. This intense pride needed to be displayed. What better way then on your other pride and joy: your kids!” says Hurn.
So far Hurn has come up with designs for 14 Seattle neighborhoods – Ballard has the viking, Fremont has the troll, Green Lake is the historical Aqua Follies Girls and Greenwood showcases the long-celebrated car show. More neighborhood tees can be seen here.
ADORABLE
Super Cute! I think my daughter needs one of these. A lot more fun than a shirt that just says “Ballard”
Her crafts are awesome!! I have a few and I am very happy with the look and feel – great stuff.
Looks really nice! Is local pickup available, or must everything be shipped? (I’d like to avoid paying to have it shipped to me, then paying again to ship it to my gift recipient)
Sweet! I only wish they came in sizes for big kids!
You can always buy the awesome reusable canvas totes for groceries for only $18!
I always offer free drop off if you live in Seattle and return your shipping cost with your order. (Etsy forces you to pay shipping. ) You can email me direct always and I can invoice you separately if you prefer!
So fun, Anne-Lise! I think I might have to look into your West Seattle t’s. :) It was great to meet you in person last week! Cheers – Melisa
Not only is this a clever idea, but Hurn is a lovely person.
Will you be making one for Magnolia kids?
Seriously, at the top of my list. I have more requests for Magnolia than any other neighborhood. The water tower is the big vote from kids, but I’m thinking about doing a sail boat. I’m up for suggestions!
How about a Magnolia tree for Magnolia?
I think a sailboat or Discovery Park’s lighthouse would be good!
Cute, but is he pro-trail?
