The tree in front of BalMar at the intersection of Ballard Ave NW and NW Market has been snapped in half with the trunk still in the ground and the foliage tossed aside.
Does anyone know what happened? We haven’t been able to track down any info. (Thanks David for the tip & @ajrogers for Tweeting us the pic)

Looks like there is a crop circle around it. That could explain it.
My guess is hooligans.
Hooligans with samurai swords. Or bolt cutters.
Judging by where the tree is, I’d wager it was a meathead from BalMar that did it…

I saw this at 6 this morning and was hoping it wasn’t someone destroying it, but could only assume it was a drunk idiot.
I like the way you think, Ron Schott. Big things are in the future for a thinker like you. Your deductive reasoning skills do nothing more than amaze me.
Viking bank will be accepting donations for the memorial fund and funeral services, as the tree has no known living relatives.

Impact from a baby stroller?
Ryan Dunn?
hungry hipster?
Let me guess… drunk a-holes with ball caps worn backwards.
Where can I buy one of those backwards hats? The stores around here only sell the regular ones.
This is sad. That tree was planted in memory of the owner of Scandies, the restaurant that India Bistro moved into after Tom died.

Looks like one of my pruning jobs.
Not surprised…have seen young thuglets hanging from tree branches before. Monkey see, monkey do. They don’t have any respect for public or other people’s property. It was just a matter of time before the tree branches snapped and broke off. Sad…
Too soon!
Ballard beavers.
ROFLMAO!
No its the same, you just turn it sideways on your head.
I can donate a tree. I have a few options as I am a gardener and have access. Let me know. I remember Scandies open faced sandwiches. Poor tree.

I’d blame the same people who cut all the other trees down in Ballard…the Scandinavians of Old Ballard!
