The Whittier Heights Community Council is hoping to get a grant from Seattle Parks and Recreation to expand Baker Park (8341 14th Ave NW) and give it a makeover. The council applied for the Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund in September, and is now gearing up for a final presentation to Seattle Parks on Monday, Jan. 28 at Northgate Community Center. And, to get ready for the presentation, they’re asking for some help from the community.
“Competition is still very stiff and we have only one more chance to sway the Oversight Committee’s vote,” writes Brad Wakeman from the Whittier Heights Community Council. They’re asking for help with developing the presentation of the park plans; Wakeman says they need an architect or graphic designers to help put together presentation boards. They also need a script writer or editor to read through the application and write a script for the presenters. The council is looking for a couple presenters, and neighborhood families who can show up at the final presentation event on Jan. 28 for support.
