A man stumbled into a window and shattered the glass of a Leary Ave shop on Friday night. According to our reader Leslie Mehren, a man stumbled into the front window of Anima Mundi Pop-Up Shop (5465 Leary Way, near the corner of Market Street) at approximately 9:30 p.m Friday night.
According to witnesses the man escaped without injuries. Seattle Fire Department crews responded and determined that the man was unharmed and did not need to go to hospital.
“He reportedly was walking unsteadily down the street, veering into traffic and appearing intoxicated to passersby. The man lost his balance and crashed through the store’s large plate-glass window,” wrote Mehren.
The SFD reportedly notified store owners of the incident and a subsequent 911 call alerted Seattle Police Department to the situation. SPD Officer Lee arrived at the scene with owners to assess the damage.
“The reportedly intoxicated man who caused the damage was allowed to leave the scene,” wrote Mehren. He left on foot and was last seen walking down Leary Avenue.
Store owners have estimated that incident has caused thousands of dollars in damage. They have covered the window with wooden panels until the glass is replaced. The store remains open with a sign (see photo) displayed in the window.
Thanks to reader Leslie Mehren for the tip.
