Update April 24:
A Seattle Fire Investigator has determined the fire to be accidental and found that it was most likely caused by spontaneous combustion of oils that leaked and mixed in the basement bedroom.
The total damage estimate from the fire is $50,000 to the structure of the home and $20,000 to the owner’s contents.
Original Post:
SFD responded to a 911 call at 13057 7th Ave NW at approximately 7:15 p.m. Thursday night. The resident of the home called to report a fire in the basement bedroom and a neighbor called to report that smoke was seen coming from the house.
Seattle Fire Department Spokesman Kyle Moore confirmed that the resident got out of the house safely and sustained no injuries.
Moore reported that the fire was contained to one room and that the cause of the fire is still unknown. The fire inspector will now investigate to determine both the cause of the fire and if the family can return to their home.
