Ballard’s Greenfire Campus (2034 NW 56th Street) will be one of the seven architect-designed projects to be featured in the first ever American Institute of Architects (AIA) home tour. The tour will kick off at 10 a.m. this Saturday, September 14 and is organised by the Seattle branch of non-profit AIA
“Explore Design” tour will showcase projects from all over Seattle and hopes to challenge the public to re-think how architectural design can impact the home. The properties that will feature on the tour were selected for their unique architectural response to site, scale and inhabitants. Ballard’s Greenfire Campus will be shown alongside Beacon Hill’s Beacon Green Courtyard Townhomes, Greenwood’s Family Share units, Tangletown’s FlipFlop House(s), Leschi’s the Leschi Residence, Madison Park’s Park Passive and Sand Point’s Sunrise Vista.
“When walking into a home—whether large or small—you can feel the impact of thoughtful, intentional design,” said Lisa Richmond, Executive Director of AIA Seattle. “Through ‘Explore Design’, we’re excited to invite the city to explore the possibilities of residential architecture—and learn more about the powerful stories surrounding each home.”
The Explore Design home tour is part of this year’s Seattle Design Festival which brings together Seattle’s experts, city leaders and citizens to celebrate the ways in which design improves the quality of our day to day lives. The architects involved in each project will be on site to answer questions from tour guests about the design process.
Tickets for the tour are $25 for adults, children under 16 are free. Click here to find out more and to purchase tickets.
