Mayor Ed Murray spoke with New Orleans Mayor Mitchell Landrieu yesterday and placed a friendly bet on this Saturday’s divisional playoff game with the Seahawks and the Saints at CenturyLink Field.
In the wager, Mayor Landrieu offered up New Orleans favorite King Cake from Sucre’ Bakery, a traditional dessert eaten during Mardi Gras, and Louisiana seafood against Seattle favorite Top Pot Doughnuts.
“Should the unthinkable happen and New Orleans wins, we’re going to offer you Top Pot Doughnuts, from a company that is home grown right here in the city of Seattle,” said Murray.
Check out the terms of the wager below:
- If the Seattle Seahawks win the game, New Orleans Mayor Landrieu will provide Seattle Mayor’s Office with King Cake and Louisiana Seafood.
- If the New Orleans Saints win the game, the Seattle Mayor’s office will provide the New Orleans Mayor’s Office with Top Pot Doughnuts.
Mark Klebeck, owner of Top Pot Doughnuts, reportedly endorsed the deal. “We definitely want to expand our product to be in New Orleans, but only after we win the Superbowl,” said Klebeck.
Murray and Landrieu spent about ten minutes on the telephone trading barbs with one another. The two Mayors agreed to talk again today and tweet during Saturday’s game.
Enjoy watching the game on Saturday, and of course, go Hawks!
