Ballard eatery Blue Dog Kitchen (5905 15th Ave NW) will be closing its doors for good after five years of service to the neighborhood.
The eatery will be permanently close on May 30th as the owners move on to the next chapter of their lives.
The Blue Dog team posted the following message on their Facebook Page:
To Our Valued Customers: After over 10 years of serving the U-District and Ballard neighborhoods, the Blue Dog Kitchen will be closing its doors on May 30th, 2014. While we love serving our customers and being part of the neighborhood, it’s simply time to move on to the next chapter of our lives.
The good news is the Blue Dog won’t be vanishing entirely. Our homemade chai drinks will still be available at various retail locations around Seattle under the brand name One Jasmine Chai. Our chai will still be available at our current retail location in Ballard when the new tenant, Morsel, opens for business on July 1st.
Please keep in touch with us and any of homemade foods, such as Anna’s hot sauce, wheat-free pancake mix, Aoli spread, can be ordered through our website. It’ been great serving you for the past decade, we hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have!
The Ballard Blue Dog location opened back in 2009 after owners found success at their U-District store. In 2010, Blue Dog owners decided to solely focus on the Ballard location and the U-District store closed.
The eatery will surely be sorely missed by locals, especially by those who enjoyed their homemade chai drinks.
Blue Dog Kitchen will be open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily until the closure on May 30.
The My Ballard team will keep readers up to date about the opening of Morsel when more information is known.

Good riddance! That place had some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Looks like Morsel will be a more than suitable replacement!
