Back in May we wrote that Ballard Camera would be closing after 61 years. Tuesday was their last day.
Old Norveegen was there and took this picture. He writes in the forum, “At a little after 6pm on Tuesday evening, June 30, 2009, sadly, Ballard Camera closed it’s doors after over 60 years in Ballard. A victim of Digital Photography and the ecomony according to one of the owners.“

This breaks my heart. We will keep film alive forever!
Rats!
Ballard Camera is now shuttered. Ha ha ha.
It's sad to see them go, but it doesn't surprise me. I was a loyal customer once, but made the switch over to CameraTech down the street years ago. They've got everything there I'd ever need…digital, film, repair, cleaning, parts, new, used, whatever. Ballard Camera jumped the shark a while back in my opinion.
Will be in town visiting next week and taking photos, so thanks for the tip on Camera Tech being a good place to shop at.

Old Norveegen – nice job getting the closing shot, and getting it to the Swedes for posting! Thanks for taking the time!
Can't believe The Seattle Times linked to this. What a bare-bones post with a crappy photo on an ugly site
Wow, used to be that Ballard Camera was the only place to travel across town to get a camera.
Talls, Kits, and other camera places like Ballard Camera are still around as they are always advertising and offering deals. I can't remember ever seeing a Ballard Camera advertisement lately. With all the competition out there you really need to advertise, or you get lost in the sea of stores out there.
